It’s happening. It’s real. 2016 is the Year of the Cock. Spurs are in a title race. Don’t laugh at the back. In this crazy season of twists and turns why can’t Mauricio Pochettino’s brave young lions be involved in the shake up? Whilst Arsenal and Manchester City are full of glitz and glamour and Leicester City are the neutrals choice, Pochettino is slowly and steadily creating a solid foundation for years of success at White Hart Lane. With my Rafa Benitez head on let’s look at the facts…(these may well not be facts). Best goalkeeper in the league? Hugo Lloris. Best centreback in the league? Toby Alderweireld. Best young English midfielders? Eric Dier and Dele Alli. Best centre forward in the league? Harry Kane. Look at that. What is not to like about this Spurs team? They play football with a boyish enthusiasm and an exuberance not seen at White Hart Lane since 1987. I’m ignoring the Redknapp era as that was off the cuff tactic-less stuff, and was reliant on four world class individuals. Anyway I’m digressing.

Spurs travel to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon with an excellent recent record against the Toffees. Spurs have not lost in their last six against Everton, but this Sunday they come up against a bang in form Romelo Lukaku. Now I’m not stupid enough to say that Lukaku won’t be a threat on Sunday…he will. In fact he will score. Most of you reading this have got him in your Fantasy Team…if not, why not? The lad is on fire and will surely join a better team in the summer. Which leads me to this question…Everton have three players who if sold would go for more than £40m each…Stones, Barkley and Lukaku. So why are Everton floundering in mid-table..oh hello Roberto Martinez. The man lovely fella, couldn’t organise a defence if he’s life depended on it. So despite Lukaku banging them in, Spurs will not leave Goodison Park empty handed. Most Spurs fans would take a point, but if they were to win, well then could it really be the Year of the Cock?

My Fantasy Tip:

May well be too late to change it, (Ed; it is.) but Spurs have a plethora of attacking midfielders who all take turns in being in form. At the start of the season it was Nacer Chadli, then Christian Eriksen. It’s now Erik Lamela. Get him in your side for the next month.

This one we are finished. We shall see as the games goes on, our ship will sink in the middle of the park. We will get bullied there and thus our 2 center halves will be put under tremendous pressure. Carroll couldn’t do a Dembele, he is not strong enough to out muscle the opposition players in the middle. He can play as a number 10 man but can never be a CDM and as far as I have seen him play, he does not suit playing as a holding midfielder. Let’s see whether Poch has got his tactical moves wrong once again. This is the same 11 players that he fielded against the Newcastle game at home 3 weeks ago. In that game, Carroll failed to fill Dembele’s shoes and we will being piled back by the Newcastle players in the last 20 mins even though he has already been substituted. I hope Poch change his formation at half time if it doesn’t work out.
