Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert have scored 19 Premier League goals between them this season
Southampton have struggled for results in recent games, despite putting in hearted performances. Consecutive league losses to Chelsea and Arsenal have seen the North Londoners drop off the Champions League places by seven points, having played three more matches than third placed Manchester City. Combined with a Europa League exit Tim Sherwood’s men are in desperate need of a positive result. Their opposition Southampton are full of confidence having won their last two matches. If Mauricio Pocchetino’s men are to mount a serious challenge for a Europa League spot, they will need to surpass Manchester United and Everton to do so.
“It wasn’t the greatest performance last weekend, but we got the job done and we’ll take that result and the confidence that comes with it into the game on Sunday against Tottenham which is a massive, winnable game for us.”
