Arsenal vs Chelsea: CONFIRMED LINEUPS

Indifferent recent form aside, Chelsea’s tendency to show up against the Premier League’s biggest teams makes this fixture an extremely prickly one for  Arsenal to negotiate.

Juan Mata scored in the Capital One cup win against Arsenal earlier this season

Because in contrast to their visitors here, the Gunners have demonstrated a propensity to succumb to the more illustrious opposition the Premier League has to offer, counting Manchesters City and United amongst their three league conquerors this term.

Chelsea have already won at the Emirates this season also, scoring a 2-0 League Cup success in north London, though the much rotated first 11 Arsene Wenger chose to utilise in that tie must be noted. As must the Blues’ concerning seasonal defensive record, which has seen them concede more times already than they did in Jose Mourinho’s entire debut campaign at the Stamford Bridge helm.

More positively though, Chelsea do boast the top flight’s fourth most potent attack, and against the side sporting the division’s third most prolific, their big-game mentality could prove crucial.
