Wayne Rooney is the record goal scorer in Manchester derbies with 11 goals
For years Manchester City would visit Old Trafford hoping to put a dent in their title challenge, but how the tables have turned this season. United are categorically out of the title race, and City are firm favourites to win at Old Trafford. A win for Pellegrini’s men would propel them to second place, three points behind Chelsea with two games in hand. United will be desperate to spoil City’s title chances and continue the momentum off the back of David Moyes’ finest week as the reds manager. Wednesday saw him overcome a 2-0 deficit to progress to the Champions League quarter-finals and that was followed up with a comfortable 2-0 victory in the Premier League away to West Ham.
“In the last couple of games, a lot of players have stepped up and performed. We want to perform better in the bigger games than we have done though. We go out to win every game – not just the derby.”
