Champions League: Will Chelsea drive the Bus up front?

We did toy with the idea of running an individual Champions League game… But realistically we already struggle to keep up to speed with the Hollyoaks omnibus as it is!

Champions League – Who will Qualify?

Both the Semi Final first legs were a massive let down, with just 1 goal being scored. Surely it has to be better 2nd time around?

First up, we have Bayern vs Real Madrid. After their counter attacking performance in the 1st leg, Real went all out attack against Osasuna on Saturday, winning the game 4-0. Ronaldo only played 62 minutes but still managed to score a brace. Marcelo has now fully recovered from injury and played the full 90 minutes, but we don’t yet know whether Ancelotti will start with him or keep faith in Coentrao. Carlo was also fortunate enough to be able to rest Bale, Benzema and Pepe.

Bayern were in fine goal scoring form also, putting 5 past Werder Bremen. It was a very flattering scoreline though, with Bremen causing the Bayern defence all sorts of problems in the first half. If Pep Guardiola’s side are going to progress to the final, they will need to be very wary about piling everyone forward. A fully fit Ronaldo, and a fully rested Gareth Bale, will cause havoc on the counter. Mandzukic was an unused substitute at the weekend, with Muller playing the full 90 minutes. So, it looks like Muller will have to settle for a place on the bench against Madrid. Lahm, Robben and Kroos, were all given a breather.

Chelsea… the most exciting team in the entire world! Seriously though, it might be shockingly boring to watch, but when they park the bus, it simply cannot be moved. Atletico and Liverpool had 51 attempts on goal between them, but Mark Schwarzer still managed to register 2 clean sheets, and truth be told, he was very rarely troubled. The mighty Torres, the dependable Cahill, and most of Chelsea’s attacking midfielders were all either rested or played just a handful of minutes. At the time of writing this we’re still unsure about the fitness of 3 key players. Terry, Hazard and Eto’o, all have a chance of making the game. Cech is 100% out, Mikel and Lampard are suspended, and Matic isn’t eligible.

Atletico Madrid weren’t in a position to rest anyone on Sunday. The league leaders needed a victory, and they got it, winning 1-0 against Valencia. They are now 4 points clear at the top of the Spanish Primera, what an amazing achievement. Unbelievably, they have only conceded 22 goals in 35 league games, so I don’t anticipate a high scoring 2nd leg. I can see Chelsea either sneaking this 1-0 or the game going to extra time, and then possibly penalties. Atletico don’t have any major injury concerns that we know of.

You have 2 free and 1 optional transfer to use in GR12, and for the final you will receive 3 free and 1 optional.

IMPORTANT: Extra Time and Penalties

1) If a game goes goes to extra time, points will continue to be issued as normal.
2) A clean sheet bonus will only be issued if a team doesn’t concede for the entire 120 minutes.
3) Penalty shoot outs don’t contribute to points scored.

Our FiT Credit sale finishes on Wednesday evening. If you top up now you will receive 20% extra free – all credits carry over to the World Cup and beyond.

Best of luck!
