Logie’s Premier League Preview

A bonus for all football fans with mind week Premier League action and some very interesting fixtures. Interesting fixtures and interesting questions. Can Burnley survive? Can City catch Chelsea? Can Liverpool go a week without Balotelli making the headlines for all the wrong reasons? And are United really improving? I got 50 per cent right at the weekend so a bit like United – I too can improve. Anyway here goes.

Burnley v Newcastle
These two sides have never met in the Premiership. They did meet in the top Division back in 1993 when Newcastle had players like Kevin Keegan and Chris Waddle. Burnley won that match 1-0 in March of that year and how they would love a repeat.
Burney have won two and drawn one of their last three so confidence is high. Danny Ings has scored four goals in their last five games which has been key to their points tally.
Newcastle were on a run of five games unbeaten until they lost to West Ham. It was the first goal they had conceded in four games. After this fixture they are facing some cruel matches. Chelsea and Sunderland to name but two.
A lot at stake here but I think Burnley can continue their good run.

Leicester v Liverpool
Mario Balotelli is in the news again. This time for alleged racist remarks on social media. He has apologised but he could still be in trouble. Again I ask as I did at the time why on earth did Brendan Rodgers sign him in the first place.
Balotelli in trouble and Steve Gerrard in a war of words with the boss. His legs have gone and he’s no longer a certain starter. It happens to all players.
Also Basle and the Champions League is on the horizon. It all spells pressure for everyone at Anfield.
They are facing a Leicester side who have gone eight games without a win. They did score at QPR but lost 3-2. Liverpool were poor but did beat Stoke 1-0.
Leicester have taken 2 points from their last eight games since they beat Man United 5-3 back in September. They need to start getting points if they are to avoid the drop.
Liverpool have only one clean sheet in their last ten away games but despite that they should have too much for the bottom side.
An away win but without much conviction. Premier League match betting

Man Utd v Stoke
United have won three in a row. Stoke were unlucky not to get a point at Liverpool but United are on a roll. Louis Van Gaal seems to be getting the mix right and with Michael Carrick back they have improved. Only one winner here.

Swansea v QPR
QPR will be delighted to be off the bottom of the table but this is a serious fixture. Swansea have only lost one game at home in seven. That was against Southampton when they were forced to play most of the game with ten men after a red card to Wilfred Bony. When he stays on the park he normally scores and QPR will do well to keep him out.
QPR may have beaten Leicester in a game that saw 51 goal chances but away from home they are awful. Not a single point and only two goals. I can’t see it improving here no mater about Saturday.

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa
Last time at home Palace beat Liverpool so they should beat Villa. Things rarely work out that easily in this league. Palace followed up that win over Liverpool with a draw at Swansea. Now that was a result.
Both sides are on thirteen points and the way it is at the bottom a single win can put you up several places so it’s not to see how vital this game is.
Villa last won at game back on September 13th at Anfield. Since then it’s been six defeats and three draws.
Roy Keane is gone and some fans are asking why Paul Lambert is still there?
Villa have only scored seven goals in thirteen games and there is the problem.
The atmosphere at home for Palace is always special. I think the fans are almost like an extra player.

West Brom v West Ham
It seems the fans at West Brom are losing their faith and patience with their manager Alan Clarke. Things are not going well. West Brom have lost their last three games and haven’t scored a single goal.
Only one win at home this season. In fact only three wins at home in their last 21. Says it all really.
West Ham are fifth in the league after their best ever start to a Premiership campaign. 21 points in 13 games and confidence is sky high.
West Brom are not good but history shows that a game like this normally ends in a draw. Five out of the last seven between these two has ended that way.
I am going to stick by that.
