Young English players to have broken through this year
Betfuze.com take a look at what English hotshots have made a name for themselves as we approach the half way point of the Premier League
By Sam Weaver.
Tottenham’s Ryan Mason & Harry Kane have broken into their clubs side.
Goalkeeper
Fraser Forster
Since arriving at Southampton this summer with a hefty £8million price tag from Celtic, the 6ft 7inch stopper has certainly won the plaudits of managers across the Premier League. Forster has more clean sheets than anyone else in the top flight (7) and is continuing to push Joe Hart for England’s number 1 goalkeeper jersey.
Defenders
Nathaniel Clyne
Another Saints player who has impressed this season, the energetic Nathaniel Clyne has started England’s last two Internationals; including a Euro Qualifying debut against Slovenia at Wembley. At just 23 years-old, Kyle Walker and Glen Johnson will be fearing for their England futures.
Aaron Cresswell
Snapped up by West Ham from Championship side Ipswich, scouser Aaron Cresswell is already beginning to turn a few heads having only appeared in 15 Premier League matches. The left back possesses a sweet left foot and an attacking style of play that mirrors Leighton Baines.

Midfielders
Ryan Mason
It’s a rarity for a youth product of a club to have to wait until 23 before being given a crack at first-team football, but Ryan Mason has coped with the demands of Premier League football and flourished in Tottenham’s midfield, to the point where Moussa Dembele and Paulinho have both watched him in action from the subs bench.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
“The Ox” has featured in every single Premier League fixture for Arsenal this season and is already beginning to mature into a player that could be a World superstar. Pace, power, technique and skill are just a few of the assets to his game and with last season’s injuries behind him, he will play a pivotal part in England’s future plans.

Forwards
Saido Berahino
Made a few talk last year, has made a whole lot of noise this campaign. West Brom have a real gem on their hands with striker Saido Berahino. Roy Hodgson called him up to England’s first team for the games against Slovenia and Scotland, but is still waiting for his debut. He is currently joint top English goalscorer in the Premier League and is just 21 years-old.
Harry Kane
It’s been a whirlwind few months for the Tottenham striker who has gone from bit part Europa League striker, to Tottenhams biggest goal threat. Harry Kane has forced his way into Tottenham’s forward line at the expense of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor in recent weeks.
