With results elsewhere opening the door for Liverpool to re-ignite their title challenge, Brendan Rodgers’ men have the ultimate opportunity to close the gap on league leaders Arsenal.

Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez will be hoping to make more of an impact after being kept quiet at the Emirates in November
And with a superlative home record in tow, along with a strikeforce that this writer cannot praise enough, the Reds certainly have a realistic chance of moving within five points of the Premier League summit, at least for a number of hours. That is, of course, provided the calamitous defending they demonstrated in their last outing is not replicated. Indeed, so bizarre were Kolo Toure’s frequent unsuccessful ball-carrying bursts from his own penalty area against West Brom, the Ivorian seemed almost determined to cost his side a goal, which he eventually did, and ultimately an extra two points. Daniel Agger’s potential return would boost the hosts’ hopes of beating a Gunners side sporting a terrific record on the road this term, one which has lost only twice in 12 away from the Emirates, and won nine of their last ten matches all told. Arsenal’s terrific recent record at Anfield is another reason to approach investment in the Merseysiders with caution.
