GW2 Predictions from @OurLogie

The second week of the Premier League. Will it be two defeats in a row for United? Can City edge out big rivals Liverpool? Arsenal face a tough one away at Everton and are Chelsea the team to beat after their superb performance against Burnley.

So many questions and so few answers to the most competitive league there is. Seven out of ten last week wasn’t bad so I hope you made a few quid although no doubt the United result hammered a few coupons. Anyway here goes. Take Two.

Aston Villa v Newcastle

Villa will be delighted with their start. I didn’t see them winning at Stoke and perhaps that was a wake up call for Mark Hughes. Roy Keane and Paul Lambert will be looking at the likes of this game for a home win and Newcastle will want to bounce back after their 2-0 defeat at home to City. I have tossed this one about for a long time and I have changed my mind several times on it. Newcastle made six debuts in the City defeat and will hope they have improved from last week. It looks like a draw as both sides are about even.

A draw with no great conviction.

Dušan Tadić

Southampton v West Brom

The top scorer in the Premiership is Sailo Berahino who scored twice for West Brom in their opening draw with Sunderland. He won’t win the title. The last time the top scorer was outside the top five of City, United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea was Kevin Phillips for Sunderland back in 1999. Southampton were very unlucky in their opening fixture and I think they will be too good for the visitors in this one.

Home win.

Crystal Palace v West Ham

Crystal Palace have no Tony Pulis and no Malkey Mackay so Keith Millen stays in charge for yet another game. The Hammers lost their opening London derby last week and this season could be a real struggle for them. It won’t be easy at Palace who showed against Arsenal that they will be hard to beat this season. Another tight affair I feel and the Hammers need at least a point.

Draw.

Swansea v Burnley

The script for the opening day was meant to read great effort by Swansea but United win in the end. It didn’t turn out that way all the same.. Swansea as well know went to Old Trafford and took all three points. Burnley worked hard in their defeat against Chelsea and will be good at Turf Moor. Can’t see them getting anything here.

Home win.

Chelsea v Leicester

Leicester showed against Everton that they will not be pushed around this season. They did so well  in that game but this is a real step up in class. Chelsea were so good against Burnley for forty five minutes at least.

It has to be a home win here.

Everton v Arsenal

Now I really expect this to be a very tight game. Everton will do well to repeat the efforts of last season but they are a very good team. Arsenal are better this season than last and Sanchez is a super player but he will take time to adjust to the style of Arsenal. Arsenal struggled to a win last week with the winner in the 91st minute.

Draw for me.

Hull v Stoke

Not a game for the faint hearted. Hull are on their European travels this season and that could hit them hard at some stage as they have such a small squad. Hull won at QPR and they will be cock a hoop facing into this one but they will be tired after the trip to Belgium. Stoke might take advantage after a poor start.

Draw.

Spurs v QPR

Another London derby with Spurs hoping to get their second win in a row. They are on their travels as well in Europe and they are taking the competition seriously by all accounts. They have a big squad and that could work out for them. They are hoping for the Champions League through the Europa League and that could be their best bet. QPR had plenty of shots against QPR but no goals and they also missed a penalty. Not a great start. Can’t see it improving too much.

Home win.

ROONEY

Sunderland v Man United

After last week not much talk of the genius of Louis Van Gaal.. What a terrible start for the once mighty United. Remember it was Swansea they lost to. In the past this would have been a certain three points but not anymore. Sunderland showed last week that they will battle for everything. Marcus Rojo has arrived at United and he will be a great help but they need more.

I think it will another close affair and I’m going for yet another draw.

Man City v Liverpool

Only the second week and we get another top class fixture. First against second from last year and this will be a huge test for either side. Aguero was only used for seven minutes last week and yet he came on and scored. A class act. Liverpool it seems are still searching for a striker and yet they say they are as good as last season. That wasn’t the case last week. Aguero only came on for seven minutes last week but he scored and he is a class act. I fancy a good open game in this one and I think the home side will just have the edge.

Home win.
