It’s not been a great start for Brendan Rodgers men, but it’s no time to panic.

Mario Balotelli is yet to repay the £16million spent by Liverpool on him.
1. Daniel Sturridge’s return
Probably the biggest reason why Liverpool can turn it around, hotshot Sturridge scored 22 Premier league goals last season and featured in Liverpool’s first three games this season where the Reds picked up six points. Since his absence, they have only managed one point from three games, looking toothless upfront with just Mario Balotelli playing lone striker.
2. Mario Balotelli yet to hit form
The maverick Italian has yet to find his shooting boots since his arrival from AC Milan, but supply from midfield has been limited. At such an early stage in his Liverpool career, it is unfair to judge the Balotelli effect for now, but should be judged after a run of games alongside Sturridge up top, a partnership that could be the turning point of Liverpool’s season.
3. Competitive league
It’s arguably the most competitive Premier League season from memory as other than Chelsea and Manchester City, it’s hard to tell who will make up the top four. There looks like about five/six teams will be fighting to break in that top four and are all capable of beating anyone on their day. Some shock results have already happened six games in, so expect more twist and turns that could work out well for Liverpool.
4. Still no settled back four
Although it could be a huge turning point, this is ultimately a big worry for Brendan Rodgers. They have reverted to four at the back from the five that worked so well last season, which has come as a surprise to most. Who to partner Dejan Lovren has been a stumbling block as both Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho have not nailed down a place. The sooner this is sorted the better the results will be.
5. New players still to gel
Luis Suarez leaving Liverpool was always going to have a huge effect on the club. Eight new first-team players have arrived and are trying to be embedded into a side which now has Champions League football to concentrate on, as well as live up to the expectations of last seasons second place finish. Time was always going to be needed, judge them around Christmas time.
What dross – they are average.Last season was a one off. Brendan has been found out.
