DEFENDER: Vincent Kompany, Manchester  City

Last GW was an indefensible disaster and I feel like I am not only writing for my credibility but also for my job. And as seems to be the fashion I will keep it brief now and plead guilty later if I am left with no other choice. So I am left with the difficult choice of playing it safe or taking risks. I’ll stop the criminal analogies there. A lot of teams seemed to distance themselves from the title as much as they have certain legal cases but Man City are at home to Villa and surely have to win comfortably. Bacary Sagna was an early season banker but it is hard to predict that back four so I will stick with Vincent Kompany as the man that will lead them to victory. But is it too late for the title? No seriously, that’s not rhetorical. I really need your help.

MIDFIELDER: Firmino, Liverpool

Liverpool destroyed City when it didn’t matter and that battle was owned by a midfield quad of midgets in Lallana, Coutinho, Milner and Firmino. The last of that Fab Four Firmino has been a Godsend for Liverpool this year and when he hasn’t chipped in with goals himself, he has certainly had a hand in them. He has been unpredictable in his first season but so have Palace under Pardew. At one point he was being heralded as the best English manager in the league and now after some rather humbling defeats, he is back to just being that guy who head butted David Meyler. I predict Liverpool putting together back to back wins for a change and Firmino getting in on the goals.

FORWARD: Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

I am not going to lie, the striking department is really hurting me. So much so that wasn’t even a bad pun. I have picked Afobe (BOU) and Rondon (WBA) in recent weeks and they’ve scored the week after. It is becoming tiresome. I have to go back to the stand out easy fixture of the week though in City versus Villa. The only question mark hanging over Sergio Aguero other than “How do you get your thighs so big?” is whether he will be given 90 minute in an ‘easy’ game with their fixture list. Bony and Iheanacho become tempting but even if Aguero only gives you 60 minutes, then he is still worth a goal or 3. The Triple Captain chip will definitely come into play for many but his gametime is so up in the air.

CAPTAIN: Diego Costa, Chelsea

Chelsea has snuck up on us like Christmas for a gambling addict with 4 kids. And with them, everyone’s favourite looking ape, Diego Costa. He may have lied about his age but he can’t lie about his FPL points. He has scored 30 points in his last 4 weeks and is extremely important to Chelsea’s drive for better level mediocrity which is really all they can aim for. Oh and the Champions League but come on! I received a tweet this week asking if it was crazy to think Costa was a far better option than Mr Perfect Sergio Aguero and to be honest….no! Give him the armband, it might calm him. It won’t.

OUTSIDER: Alberto Paloschi, Swansea

Why not pick a striker, given the joy they endlessly provide me. Alberto Paloschi got his first goal against Spurs for Swansea, was rested against Arsenal and will be back with a bang against relegation rivals Norwich. After the Swans won against Arsenal, the Canaries look in hot water. Although everything I learned from cartoons suggest they will be saved last minute despite the best efforts of a cat with a speech impediment but I don’t think it will be this week. 2-0 Swansea, Paloschi on the scoresheet.
