I said Arfield not Arsenal!! Can Burnley provide Fantasy Football Differentials?

It’s all too easy to be swayed by the big name players and clubs when it comes to selecting your Fantasy Football Squad. The harsh reality is that in order to keep the cost of your squad within the £100m budget you need to find value from other clubs and balance the books!!

The promoted sides can often offer great value #FPL picks if you know where to look and with that in mind we’ve invited Burnley Mad London’s Longside to provide an overview of The Clarets return to the Premier League.

In addition we’ve put the guys on the spot and asked for the 3 Key players for consideration for YOUR Fantasy Football team.

Besides – ANY excuse for me to use the picture of Sean Dyche in Lego form is worth it!!

Undefeated in 23 league games, playing football the Sean Dyche Way. Burnley fought through a tough Championship season until the very end, eventually finishing atop the Football League, in style. Yet, despite the financial windfall that comes with promotion to the Premier League, the Clarets have failed to make any signings of note and arguably approach the new season with a weaker squad than before the transfer window; the decision not to retain Joey Barton, for example, undeniably leaves a chasm at the heart of the team.

Nevertheless, there is cause for great optimism. Subscribed to Sean Dyche’s values, we will be resilient, hard-working and mentally strong throughout the season. Plus, goals shouldn’t be elusive; we have an exciting striker who will be determined to prove himself at the highest level. If only we could add some extra quality before our dusty window shuts, then a fascinating season awaits!

In Dyche, we trust; if you too have faith in Burnley to exceed expectations, here are 3 Burnley players we recommend you consider and keep an eye on for the FPL season!

Andre Gray, Forward, £6.5m

dre

Andre Gray is having a party that might be set to rival Vardy’s. Having lead the line for Burnley in the race to the Championship title, reaching 25 goals and 9 assists, the striker has been looking unstoppable again in pre-season and could make the difference in the forthcoming scrap for survival.

Dre cited the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of other young English Burnley strikers – Jay Rodriguez, Charlie Austin and Danny Ings – as a key factor in choosing to sign for the Clarets in 2015, for a record fee. Danny Ings bagged 11 Premier League goals following Burnley’s last promotion, and there is a quiet confidence among Clarets fans that Andre Gray’s tally could exceed that. He will also turn provider as part of a devastating strike-partnership alongside Sam Vokes.

If you’re after a great value strike option who looks destined to hit double-figures next season, Andre Gray is your man!

Michael Keane, Defender, £5m

Talk of Paul Pogba has dominated this transfer window, and many fantasy managers may be planning to include the marquee midfielder, should his move go through. However, the shrewd amongst us might want to consider another player who came through the Manchester United ranks alongside the likes of Pogba, Ravel and Lingard.

keane

Michael Keane is this low-profile talent who has managed to prove himself as among England’s brightest centre-back prospects. Unfortunately, Burnley face a challenge to ensure he remains a Claret, with champions Leicester knocking at the door.

Looking back at the end of last season, it feels like Keane almost single-handedly dragged us towards the Championship trophy; most notably with his last-gasp equaliser against title-rivals Middlesbrough. His contribution of 5 league goals was much needed and, in a team that’s plays the Sean Dyche way, the season ahead could be a huge one for Michael Keane.

Scott Arfield, Midfielder, £5.5m

arfield

This may be a controversial final choice, but the player once described by Harry Redknapp as ‘not exactly Lionel Messi’ has become a fans-favourite and a key member of the first-team. As well as being basically a chilled-out entertainer, his 14 goals and assists last season put him statistically among the most effective wide players in the Championship.

Considering he was released by Huddersfield in 2013, Arfield’s success over the last 3 seasons has been admirable; perhaps crowned by his emotional winner against fierce rivals Blackburn Rovers last year. Scott’s goalscoring exploits also tend to be followed up by genius social-media posts by his brother, Stuart; we are confident that there are more to come this season, so keep an eye out!

Having been constantly overlooked as a Scottish international, Scotty switched allegiances to represent Canada earlier this year. We suggest you learn from Gordon Strachan’s mistake by ensuring Arfield gets a call-up to your fantasy squad!
